This week marks the one-anniversary of the May 2017 tornado that killed one man and injured dozens more.

The EF-3 tornado went through Polk, Barron, Rusk and Price counties and was the longest recorded on-the-ground tornado in Wisconsin history.

Hundreds of properties were impacted and damage was over $10 million.

On the morning after the storm, Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald told us damage was widespread.

This Wednesday night, there will be a commemorative event to mark the one year tornado anniversary with a free public meal at the Chetek Airport Park from 5pm to 7pm.
