Investigators continue to look into the death of an inmate at the Barron County Jail.

At 520pm Thursday night, Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald says staff at the Barron County jail requested an ambulance for 30-year old Ronald Hecht, an inmate who appeared to be having a seizure.

Hecht was taken by ambulance to the Mayo Hospital in Barron, and then airlifted to Region’s hospital in St. Paul where he later passed away.

Sheriff Fitzgerald says the initial investigation points to a medical issue of some kind, and an investigation is also being conducted by the Office of Detention Facilities
