Dangerous Cold Hits Our Area

Dangerously frigid wind chills have moved into the region, and safety experts are urging people to take precautions to keep you and your family safe during the winter cold.
If possible, avoid long exposure outside, and keep all skin protected to avoid frostbite and hypothermia.

While most area lakes have frozen over, officials warn the snow cover has slowed the freezing process.

If you do venture on the ice, bring a friend and be sure to check ice thickness as you go, and make sure someone knows your plans.

If you are driving and have car trouble or slip off the roadway, call 9-1-1 and stay with your vehicle.

Another winter storm is expected to move into the region late tomorrow, with heavy snow that could make traveling hazardous.
